Where is my Google Voice typing?

Google voice typing lives inside Gboard, and its button is the microphone on the keyboard's top toolbar. In Settings it sits under System, Keyboard, Gboard, Voice typing on stock Android, or inside the Gboard app's own settings on any phone.

If your Google voice typing went missing, three causes cover it: Gboard stopped being the default keyboard, the Voice typing toggle got flipped, or the mic permission was revoked. Enable Gboard as default, switch Voice typing on, and grant the microphone.

Faster voice typing is also in there: the toolbar mic uses Google's newer on-device recognition on recent phones, noticeably better than the older cloud path.

For a mic that follows you into every app with cleanup included, try voice to text in any app.

WriteVoice turns your speech into clean, formatted text in any app. Speak up to 4x faster than typing.
