Is Google Voice to text free?

Google's voice to text is free for everyday use. Gboard voice typing on Android, voice typing in Google Docs, and the Recorder app on Pixel phones all cost nothing and have no usage caps that normal people hit.

The paid thing with a similar name is the Google Cloud Speech-to-Text API, which developers pay for by the minute. Unless you are building software, that price list is not for you.

The trade-off with the free tools is cleanup. Google types what you say, including the ums, the missing punctuation, and the run-on sentences, so you still edit afterward. Free gets you raw words, not finished text.
