Is ChatGPT voice mode free?

ChatGPT voice mode is free to use with limits. Free accounts get voice conversations with usage caps that reset over time, and paid plans raise the limits and extend the advanced voice experience that free accounts only get as a short daily preview. Availability shifts as OpenAI updates plans, which is why the answer changes depending on when you ask.

If you cannot use voice mode, check the usual suspects: the feature needs the official app with microphone permission granted, a signed-in account, and headphone modes off.

Voice mode is a conversation tool, though. If what you want from it is dictation, speaking and getting text into other apps, it is the wrong shape: it talks back instead of typing for you.
