Can Google Translate by voice?

Google Translate works by voice, and it is free. Tap the microphone in the app, speak, and the translation appears as text and can be read aloud. Conversation mode goes further with live two-way translation, listening to both speakers and translating each direction.

To use Google Translate with voice, pick your two languages first, then tap the mic. On recent Android phones some of this runs on-device; elsewhere you need a connection.

It is built for talking with someone in the room. What it does not do well is writing: dictating a message in English and sending polished Spanish text is clumsy through a translation app built around conversation.
