Can ChatGPT take notes from a lecture?

ChatGPT can take notes from a lecture you hand it, and cannot sit in the lecture hall for you. Upload a recording or paste a transcript, and it produces structured notes, key concepts, definitions, and practice questions on request.

The constraint is length: a 90-minute lecture usually exceeds upload limits, so recordings need splitting, and transcripts of long sessions may need chunked prompting. Multi-speaker seminars lose the speaker labels.

The student workflow that works: record the lecture with permission, transcribe it, then use ChatGPT on the text for summaries and exam prep. Check your institution's recording policy first; most allow personal study use, some require asking.

The recording half is what voice recording for students is built for.

WriteVoice turns your speech into clean, formatted text in any app. Speak up to 4x faster than typing.
